POPMART
Drone Show
— Marina Bay
Mission Objective
The Brief
POPMART commissioned MIRS Drone Show to open the Singapore Pop Toy Show 2025 with a headline aerial moment above Marina Bay. The goal was to announce POPMART's presence in Singapore in a way that would resonate with both the global collector community and Singapore's broader audience, creating content that would travel far beyond the live event itself.
Character-Led Storytelling
Unlike conventional brand activations built around a single logo, the POPMART show demanded something more ambitious: all six of POPMART's flagship collector characters: Labubu, MOLLY, CRYBABY, SKULLPANDA, HIRONO, and DIMOO, rendered in accurate, collector-grade fidelity, each animated as a distinct formation in the Singapore night sky. The show ran across two consecutive nights, giving audiences in Singapore two opportunities to witness what became one of the most shared drone show moments of 2025.
Mission Assets

Creative Performance Design
Six Characters, One Sky
Translating POPMART's collector characters into aerial formations required a design process that went far beyond simple silhouettes. Each character has a distinct visual identity: proportions, features, and poses that make them instantly recognisable to the global collector community. MIRS Drone Show's creative team worked from POPMART's original character assets to build drone choreography that preserved each character's identity at altitude, readable from the Marina Bay waterfront at scale.
Marina Bay as a Canvas
Marina Bay provided a rare visual opportunity: the still water of the bay doubles every formation in reflection, effectively creating a mirror image of each character below the sky display. The show's sequence was designed to maximise this effect, character formations were timed and positioned to capture both the aerial view and the reflected image simultaneously. The result was a visual spectacle that was genuinely unique to this venue and this show.
- Character fidelity Each of six characters built from POPMART's original asset proportions
- Waterfront reflection design Formations positioned to maximise Marina Bay's mirror effect
- Sequential reveal arc One character per sequence, building to a full-cast finale
- Social-first capture Choreographed for vertical and horizontal content simultaneously
On-Site Execution
Two-Night Deployment
Running the same 1,300-drone show across two consecutive nights, August 22 and 23, presented a logistics challenge that goes beyond standard single-night operations. Between shows, MIRS Drone Show's ground team managed full fleet inspection, battery rotation across 1,300 units, position reset, and systems re-verification, ensuring that the second night delivered the same standard of precision as the first. Both performances ran without incident.
Airspace & Ground Operations
Operating 1,300 drones above Marina Bay required precise coordination with Singapore's Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and strict compliance with restricted airspace protocols around the Central Business District. MIRS Drone Show's operations team secured all necessary permits, established safety perimeters, and ran full rehearsal procedures across both performance sites, delivering a show that met Singapore's stringent aviation safety standards while producing a spectacular result for a live audience and a global online audience.
