McDonald's
Drone Show
— KL Tower
Mission Objective
The Brief
The brief from McDonald's Malaysia was clear: mark the return of their iconic Prosperity campaign with a brand moment that felt unmistakably premium. MIRS Drone Show answered with a 15-minute drone light show above one of Kuala Lumpur's most iconic landmarks, KL Tower, choreographing 500 drones into a sequence of brand imagery and celebratory formations above the city skyline.
More Than Marketing
The evening brought together invited guests, media, and beneficiaries from Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), making the show more than a marketing moment. It was a night that carried genuine warmth alongside the spectacle, timed to open the Prosperity season in a way that would resonate well beyond the live audience.

Creative Performance Design
Designing for a City Skyline
Performing above a city centre like Kuala Lumpur presents a specific creative challenge: the ambient glow of the surrounding skyline competes with your formations. Our design approach for the McDonald's show was built around that constraint, every frame was engineered for bold, high-contrast silhouettes that remain crisp and readable against the city lights below.
Narrative Arc & Camera Strategy
The show followed a brand-first narrative arc, moving from the Golden Arches reveal into the Prosperity Burger, a 20 sen coin motif, and the “Prosperity Kembali Lebih Bererti” message before the closing finale. Every transition and formation was choreographed with camera angles in mind, helping media crews and guests capture clean footage for PR and social content.
- City-ready visuals High-contrast shapes readable against KL's ambient skyline
- Brand-first pacing Build-up → hero logo moment → finale arc
- Camera-friendly choreography Optimised for PR clips and social media content
- Formation angles Designed for audience sightlines from the ground
On-Site Execution
Pre-Show Planning
Operating 500 drones in a city-centre environment requires a level of logistical discipline that event-day audiences never see. The ground operation conducted full site surveys of the KL Tower perimeter well in advance of show night, mapping flight zones, establishing safety boundaries, and coordinating rehearsal windows that accommodated the venue's existing event schedule.
Day-of Operations
On the day itself, our on-site team managed end-to-end setup, full systems testing, and a complete rehearsal workflow, verifying formation accuracy, timing consistency, and communication protocols across the entire fleet before a single guest arrived. The result was a show that ran without incident, delivering a clean, reliable performance for the live audience, the media crews, and the RMHC beneficiaries who made the night more than just a brand campaign.
