Mission Objective

The Brief

The IFA Exhibition required a drone show that could simultaneously welcome international delegates to Singapore and visually communicate the conference's sustainability focus. With audiences drawn from across the global exhibition industry, the show had to carry cultural resonance for visitors arriving in Singapore for the first time while anchoring the event's thematic identity in the city's most iconic waterfront setting.

More Than Marketing

International conferences held at Marina Bay have a high bar for opening spectaculars. A formation sequence above the waterfront, visible from the convention venue and captured across delegate photography and event media, needed to do two things at once: frame Singapore as the destination and reinforce the sustainability messaging that ran through the entire conference programme. The 200-drone deployment was sized and choreographed to achieve both.

Designing for a City Skyline

Performing 200 drones within the Marina Bay airspace required precise coordination with Singapore's Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), one of the most controlled urban airspaces in Southeast Asia. Formations had to be legible at altitude against the bright Marina Bay skyline, with the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands providing reference points for altitude calibration. Each formation needed to carry symbolic meaning for an international conference audience while reading clearly in event photography and media coverage.

Narrative Arc & Camera Strategy

The show opened with IFA logo branding materialising above the marina waterfront, establishing the event identity at altitude before the programme began. The performance then moved into the conference theme: a hands-and-plant formation representing sustainable growth, followed by a plant sprout rising skyward above the Singapore Flyer. The sequence closed with the 'Welcome to Singapore' text formation sprawled across the city skyline, giving international delegates a landmark moment in one of the world's most photographed urban settings.
